Pampering Purse on  MySpace

Last year  the Bush Chapel CPCA youth group started a project called The "Pampering Purse Project" that focuses on assisting abused and neglected women in the McLennan County Area Shelters, during the holidays. The Pampering Purse Project is a way to help improve the self esteem of these women, help them feel beautiful, and give them just a few basic essentials to give them a positive and bright outlook on their future. What we do is accept "gently" used purses and fill the purses with basic essentials to help these women; basic essentials being skin products, beauty products, hair & nail products, motivational literature, employment resources, etiquette literature, etc. These items that most of us use day to day and never once realize that there are women out there who don't have the means to access these products. What may be "trash" to one could be a "treasure" to another.

With the holidays just around the corner, we have began our efforts of beginning to reach out to those who may be able to assist us again, with brightening these women’s self esteem, during the up and coming months. Last year, we prepared over one hundred purses! That means that at least one hundred women, in the McLennan County area, got to experience a moment where it was really all about them. A moment, where nothing else mattered but their needs! This year, we hope to be able to reach out to at least two hundred women! The project was a huge success last year, and we have several companies to thank for that success.

 This project would not exist, had it not been for the gracious amount of generosity provided by companies and individuals from across the country. So this year we are asking retailers and businesses for donations and contributions of these items, so that we can get them out to the community and to those in need right here at Bush Chapel CPCA.

The products that may be donated to The “Pampering Purses Project”

·         Gently worn or new purses

·         New, unopened lotions, cosmetics, lip balms, body sprays and other bath and body products, samples, or promotional items

·         Socks and other hosiery

·         Gift certificates

·         Coupons

·         Items to Raffle for Decembers fundraiser, this fundraiser will help us purchasing the remaining items to fill the pampering purses.

 Just to name a few!

 

Last year when those women opened their “Pampering Purse” filled with the donated goodies you have no idea of the amount of gratitude and excitement that those women were feeling at that very moment. We are excited to be able to provide such comfort to these women that are facing hard times, pain, and uncertainty.  We hope they will know that God’s love will surround them. The “Pampering Purses Project” will run from October 1st, 2009 until December 10th, 2009.  This will give us time to get the donations together for the youth department to deliver to the charities that we will be helping by Christmas. 

Let me also state that Bush Chapel CPCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Organizations described in section 501(c)(3) are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. We will have a form for your representative to fill out and return to us so that you can use your contribution(s) as a tax deduction.
